Life after the Armed Forces can be challenging for some service leavers due to a combination of factors, including loss of identity and routine, mental and physical health issues, relationship breakdown, financial pressures, unemployment and difficulties accessing suitable housing.

The Block Armed Forces Foundation is a registered charity established in 2020 in response to the growing number of veterans experiencing homelessness and poor mental health across the North West.
For some service leavers, the transition from military to civilian life can be extremely challenging. Many lose access to military accommodation when they leave the Armed Forces, while others later lose their civilian homes due to ill health, financial hardship, relationship breakdown or other personal circumstances.
The Block provides immediate supported accommodation alongside practical, person-centred support tailored to each veteran's individual needs. Our approach goes beyond simply providing a roof over someone's head. We believe lasting recovery comes from combining safe accommodation with housing advice, welfare support, mental health support, employment guidance and access to specialist services.
Since opening, we have helped more than 200 veterans who were street homeless or at immediate risk of homelessness move into safe accommodation and, ultimately, independent living. Our aim is simple: to ensure that no veteran is left without somewhere to turn when they need help the most.

Our high street support office is open every weekday except bank holidays.
Monday to Friday 10:00am until 17:00.
Our staff can assist with one to one referrals to the veterans mental health service OP COURAGE and other veteran specialist services such as PTSD Resolution and Tom Harrison House.
We can also facilitate a wide number of alternative options for Veterans Health care, Just Ask the team.
